How to Style Over the Knee Boots: With a Fun, Flirty Dress

I know what you’re thinking… you want me to wear a dress in the middle of winter?! Come on girls..get out your self-tanner (or not) and your razor and grab those cute boots! Ha! Anyone else not worry about shaving as much in the winter?! When wearing knee boots with a short dress or skirt, I would leave 3 – 4 inches of space from the bottom of the dress to the top of the boots. You want to see a little skin and not cover the entire leg with dress and boots, otherwise its too heavy of a look.

I don’t love wearing tights, so over the knee boots are a great alternative to cover your legs in a more stylish way! This the PERFECT date night look to add a little oomph to your look! This type of outfit would be great to wear into spring as well.  I love adding a denim jacket to complete the look. The denim adds a great texture and layering is always a good idea. Another option would be a fab moto jacket like this suede option.

How to Style Over the Knee Boots: With Faux Leather Leggings

I’m a HUGE advocate for leggings, especially these faux leather leggings I am wearing with the over the knee boots. Leggings can be worn sporty casual, as actual workout attire (GASP). It’s a bit more dressed up, like I did above. The black boots look so chic with the faux leather look of the leggings. I styled the boots and leggings with a chunky sweater tunic for this shoot. Perfect outfit for any occasion.

I have worn these boots sooo many times with these exact leggings, you can literally pair any cute blouse, tee or sweater and you instantly look pulled together and stylish. You can check out this post where I styled them with a must-have tunic I own in 5 colors that is under $25! (Click here for tunic.) If you are aiming for a more casual look, I would pair it  with a simple Henley camo t-shirt, the boots and a jean jacket or cardigan over the t-shirt.

How to Style Over the Knee Boots: with Skinny Jeans and a Moto Jacket

This is my favorite way to style my boots! I’m all for a casual look that still looks like I put in effort! I would for sure wear skinny jeans with any over the knee boots since they will fit better in the jeans and not leave a unwanted bulge or baggy fit. I think you have 2 options on wearing jeans with over the knee boots. You can wear it with more of a tunic and leave the back hanging out (I am a BIG fan of front tucking any blouse I can to make it more flattering around the waistline.)

The other option would create a more form fitting look and tuck in a turtleneck or bodysuit all the way I like did above. I always like to tuck in the front of my shirt, by doing so it showcases my cute ring belt that I have been loving! I have it in black and tan aaand they just released a leopard belt that I put in my cart immediately! Another reason I like to tuck my shirt in, This is to create more space from my top to the top of the boots.

It gives the illusion of being taller than you are. I’ll take it because who doesn’t want to look like a tall VS model?! Haha. Another illusion trick I use is pairing my moto jacket with my outfits.  I love this jacket. It provides the warmth without the bulkiness of a normal coat that can add unwanted bulk to your outfit.

Everyone has their own take on how to style over the knee boots.

But these 3 stylish options are some of my fave go-to looks that I wear over and over again. And we can’t forget to mention the lady who started the trend in the first place, Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman! Haha! I prefer the flat boots for the comfort level.

However, I always like wearing my heeled boots for a more glam look. Be sure to check out some of my favorite picks! Some are on MAJOR sale! I mean come on 1 pair (well multiple for my fellow shoe lovers) can be styled to make multiple outfits! Do you really need any more reasons to snatch up these beauties?!
