Cozy Christmas Kitchen

Thank you for joining me today for the cozy Christmas morning blog hop! If you are new here, Welcome to my blog! My name is Ashley and I’m so glad you are here. Who else is excited that it’s finally full on Christmas season?! Let’s blare the holiday music, spread glitter (and flocking) all over the house and drink ALL the hot cocoa!

So obviously Christmas décor has to have a few vital things: 1) Christmas tree  2) Stockings 3) Twinkling Lights, BUT have you ever considered decorating your kitchen? I don’t know about your family, but it seems like we are ALWAYS in the kitchen! We have a big island, so the kids snack here, we eat dinner at our island most nights, and I often find myself working on my laptop in here because I like the space it offers! It is just a great gathering place…when we custom-built our home, I drew up the largest island we could possibly have for this kitchen..it’s one of my fave things in the house. There is nothing better in my opinion than a cozy Christmas kitchen (with hot coffee in hand)! I like to spread as much joy through the house as I can…and as my husband would say, and spread glitter all over the house too. (Have you ever noticed how hard it is to clean up glitter?! Of course, I NEED all things sparkly and pretty in my Christmas décor!)

Grab a cup of hot coffee and join Vivian (our 4 yr old) and I for a tour of our cozy Christmas kitchen this year and check out our festive matching pj’s too. This year in my cozy Christmas kitchen, I kept my décor simple and I used neutral colors as much as possible to give a “cozy yet festive feeling”. If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram @curlsandcashmere, you might notice that being cozy is a must for me in both my home and fashion.Cozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas KitchenCozy Christmas Kitchen

  • One of the first things I did was add a subtle wreath near my stove top. It is a faux wreath (hobby lobby similar linked) that is just simply beautiful. TIP: I use a command hook to hang the wreath and it doesn’t damage my tile whatsoever when I remove it! The area between the stovetop and vent hood is a large, bare area, so I loved being able to add a little flare to the space. You could also hang it directly on your vent hood as well. I don’t cook with my back burners ever so it isn’t a concern for me.
  • On my island, I added a mirrored tray that was filled with the cutest lit spruce trees. I had to add the reindeer too! I chose to not decorate the trees because again I wanted a more natural, understated look.
  • I have a large assortment of small decorative glass and metal Christmas trees and added a few to my open shelving and to my dining table. It adds color and dimension to the space. I love one placed on a stack of decor books, on trays and more. Click here to see my kitchen decorated for Christmas last year.
  • I did want a little pop of traditional holiday color, so I put some faux red poinsettia stems into a mercury glass vase for the island. The red looks so good against the light color of our quartzite countertops! Side note – I love flowers so any excuse to have them makes me happy!
  • I used my favorite brass lantern next to my stove and placed a variety of white, gold and silver ornaments in them. I use this brass lantern year round for decorating..it is a truly a must-have decor piece!
  • One of the easiest kitchen decor tips I have is simply switching out your normal kitchen towels for more festive ones. I like to hang a cute towel on my stove and next to my sink.

I wanted to share one of our family traditions with you that is extremely COZY as well!  Every Christmas Eve, my 2 sister’s and all of our families stay the night at my parents home. We wake up together in the morning with lots of hot coffee and chaos as all 8 kids open gifts and see what Santa brought them. I love when my 3 kids are matching on Christmas morning! We have a 9-year-old, a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old (who shot these pictures with me). I think it’s so adorable and makes for the best memories! I have so many cute pictures of the kids playing on their new toys in holiday PJ’s! This year I wanted my husband and I to join in on the Christmas tradition, so I picked up the cutest pairs of red plaid pajamas! They even matching PJ’s for your dog! So cute. Plaid is such a classic print and I love that our 2 daughters were able to get coordinating nightgowns that match.  I can’t wait for us all to wear our matching pajamas come Christmas Eve into Christmas morning.  And you better believe I will be taking pics of us matching!  I’m sure this will become a staple in our household for many years to come and maybe I can even talk my ENTIRE family into matching with us!
